Opioid & Heroin Addiction
The Opioid Crisis: America's struggle with drugs is our struggle too.
We are committed to helping.
An integral aspect of the solution.
Our nation is facing an unprecedented addiction crisis, the severity of which is unparalleled. The statistics are not just alarming; they are nearly unbelievable. Despite extensive coverage from the media and efforts from policymakers, the situation continues to deteriorate. Recent data from the National Institutes of Health underscores the gravity of opioid addiction in the United States and highlights the considerable work needed to alter our trajectory. Restored Life is dedicated to combating this epidemic.
In 2021, 81,045 individuals lost their lives to opioid overdose. That amounts to 223 people each day—a staggering 72% increase over the past five years, and a shocking 906% rise since the onset of the opioid overdose crisis in 1999, when just 22 people per day succumbed to fatal overdoses. Among these, 71,143 fatalities were attributed to synthetic opioids, including fentanyl. This number translates to 200 lives lost each day—an alarming 125% increase in the last five years, and an astounding 9,926% surge since 1999, when the daily death toll from synthetic opioids was only two.
The opioid epidemic is devastating our communities. Each story of overdose represents only the surface of a much larger tragedy. Beneath that surface lies a profound history of pain and suffering—not only for the individuals struggling with addiction but also for their families, friends, and partners who are left behind. They experience the turmoil of addiction alongside their loved ones, and for them, an overdose marks not an end, but the harrowing beginning of grief and loss.
Every day, they grapple with the haunting thought of what more they could have done—whether there was something, anything, that might have mitigated the suffering and enabled their loved one to triumph over addiction and embrace a new beginning.
Amidst this heartrending epidemic, we strive to offer hope.
At Restored Life, the hope we provide transcends mere emotion—while we recognize that compassion, love, and understanding are essential for genuine progress in treating individuals facing various challenges. Our hope is grounded in a unique blend of authentic human empathy and solid scientific evidence, bolstered by decades of clinical expertise. It is reinforced by data, substantiated through statistics, and evident daily at each of our treatment centers in Kokomo.
Moreover, we extend hope to families grappling with the challenges posed by an addicted loved one, who yearn for their family member to lead a fulfilling, happy, and healthy life. It is not uncommon to hear family members express their frustrations after exploring numerous alternatives while living in the constant fear of losing their loved one to the grip of addiction. At Restored Life, we are dedicated to offering support and solutions that pave the way for healing and recovery.
If you are facing the struggle of opioid addiction, the journey of recovery is yours to undertake. No one else can walk that path for you. You must dedicate yourself to the process and have faith that there is a feasible way to emerge on the other side. You will take back your life and live it on your terms, liberated from the grips of addiction. While we won’t claim it will be straightforward, we can assure you it will be demanding. Nonetheless, it is achievable, and you absolutely can succeed. We know this because we witness individuals accomplishing it every day.
You do the work – but you are not alone in this fight.
At Restored Life, our expert team of doctors, nurses, and therapists supports you in navigating the psychological and emotional facets of recovery. They equip you with new coping techniques, impart strategies for preventing relapse, and provide valuable insights into the many ways addiction impacts your mind, body, and spirit.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) stands as the most effective approach for overcoming opioid addiction, a conclusion supported by extensive research over the years. With Restored Life's MAT program, you’ll benefit from a personalized combination of medication, life-skills counseling, and behavioral therapies designed to address your substance use disorder. The medication serves to alleviate your discomfort during the detox process and throughout post-detox recovery. Following the initial detox phase, medication allows you to engage in the first stage of treatment without the burden of persistent illness or cravings, enabling you to concentrate on recovery rather than merely surviving each day. Furthermore, behavioral therapies equip you with the essential skills and support necessary to achieve your life goals.
Continuum of Care
In the first phase of treatment, clients receive 24/7 comprehensive care at the facility. Our team of medical professionals, therapists, and case managers provides structured support throughout the day. Clients participate in 21 hours of therapy each week, and our support staff attends to all daily needs. Many of our staff members are also in recovery, offering empathy and understanding at every step of the journey.
In the second phase, known as PHP, individuals with moderate Substance Use Disorder (SUD) participate in five hours of therapy sessions, five days a week, while maintaining family life and obligations. The program typically lasts 3-4 weeks and involves coordinated care from psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, therapists, and case managers.
As a further step-down in the continuum of care, outpatient treatment involves group therapy sessions for three hours a day, three days a week, conducted by credentialed therapists. This phase allows clients more time for family and potential reintegration into work life.
Our aftercare program is for clients who have completed the Restored Life Recovery program. Alumni receive guidance and support from a dedicated provider and participate in regular group gatherings to discuss issues, share successes, and foster a supportive community beyond formal treatment.
